Mario started his acting career at grammar school as a member of Petr Haken's Theatre Studio. He was recommended by Jan Císař for the theatre academy of arts where he spent a year, and was shortly an actor for Divadlo Hromadná procházka in Prostějov. He then studied aesthetics, art theory and religious studies at the Faculty of Arts at Masaryk University in Brno, journalism at Charles University in Prague, culture management at Science-Po in Paris and got his PhD. in culture management at Charles University.
Throughout his student years, he appeared in about 10 films such as Pusinky, U mě dobrý, and Děvčátko (The Girl) – for the latter he was awarded the best male actor award at the international film festival in Thessaloniki.
In 2009–2014 he worked as a culture reporter for Czech TV. He is currently an assistant lecturer at the arts management department of the University of Economics, Prague and co-organizes the annual International Week of Arts management where experts from prestigious European universities are invited. He is a guest lecturer at Tomas Bata University in Zlín, Erasmus Brussels University of Applied Sciences and Arts and Artesis Plantijn University College in Antwerp.
He gained a scholarship in the United States for the American culture studies program, and was honorably appointed in the Fulbright program by the American ambassador.
Mario is a co-founder of the e-learning site culturematters.cz. He likes walking in the woods, listening to Mahler, Zelenka and Janáček, and playing chess. He is an ardent yachtsman and is a captain in his sailing agency This Is Blue. Lately he has found the inspiration in martial arts and the MMA fighter Tony Ferguson.
