He is a founding member of theatre ensembles Tantehorse and Spitfire Company. A broad spectre of genres have been in his spotlight – dance and physical theatre, drama, site-specific, musical and opera. He travelled the world – from Cape Town to Reykjavik, from Chicago to Calcutta – with several theatre companies. He currently works as a lighting designer for the National Theatre in Prague, Brno and Ostrava. In 2013, he was awarded the best lighting design award. He organizes the annual olympics of theatre technicians called Backstage Battles. He teaches at the Institute of Lighting Design, was a coach for a mime theatre in Berlin and at the First Nations Reserve of Wikwemikong, Canada.

Martin is an owner of several stylish cafés in Prague – Kafe DAMU and Kafe Pragovka and also Kafe Petrohradská, where he can pour anything for anyone who is willing. He knows how to ride a bike and a moped.
